Thursday, May 15th, 2008
A comprehensive article at SeekingAlpha by Bruce Everiss, who was part of both Imagine and Codemasters in their start-up days, calls the video game industry “one of the most attractive areas to invest,” a worthy commendation given the arguably challenging state of the U.S. market. Everiss says that even in tough times, the game industry is set to keep growing:
And the industry is still at its very beginning, it will grow to be bigger than movies and TV combined as it leverages its key advantages of interactivity, connectivity and non linearity.

Get Professional Value from Idle Web Surfing [How To]
Thursday, May 15th, 2008
Want to get more than just behind on your work from idly browsing the web? The Simple Dollar weblog shares a few tips for getting both personal and professional value from your “wasted” web time. The post suggests several different methods for getting more from your browsing, most of which revolve around participating on the web rather than just consuming—whether that involves social bookmarking, commenting and sharing your knowledge, or befriending others with similar interests. 3G coming soon: More than just speculation
Thursday, May 15th, 2008Amid rampant speculation over when the much awaited 3G iPhone will see the light of day, there has finally been a voice brave enough (or not-familiar-with-Steve enough) to make a declarative statement… and it’s from someone who would be almost…
DIYer becomes inundated with spare time, crams Wikipedia onto PDA
Thursday, May 15th, 2008Filed under: Handhelds
Portions of Wikipedia have been living on disconnected pocket-friendly gizmos for years now, but one particular DIYer just took the whole process to an absurd new level. For starters, you'll have to procure a relatively obscure Psion 5mx PDA, not to mention a CF card (and adapter), Linux-based PC, static HTML dump of Wikipedia and an enviable amount of unused vacation time. If you just can't stand to be too far from knowledge, and you're way too vintage to just pick up a WiFi-enabled UMPC or halfway decent smartphone with web access, load up the read link and prepare to get (really) busy.Read | Permalink | Email this | CommentsLooks like 10 Million was a bit of an understatement
Thursday, May 15th, 2008In the same speech in which he introduced the world to the iPhone, Steve Jobs made the bold statement that he planned on selling 10 Million units in 2008 to achieve a 1% global market share. At the time, even…
Maker Faire 2008 - Big Success
Thursday, May 15th, 2008
By the sounds of it the Maker Faire is getting bigger and bigger each year. I think I need to make some time and go next year… DL.TV went down and covered the event along with many others.
"Wow! Another great Maker Faire. Thanks to everyone who came out and supported the 3rd annual Maker Faire, and a special thanks to our Makers, Crafters, Sponsors, Exhibitors and the amazing Maker Faire team. We had a record number of Makers (over 500), record attendance of 65,000 and launched a Maker Faire Educational Program too. There are thousands of great stories and we would love to hear yours and have you share your photos and videos with us (options below). Please be sure to visit our site for updates, videos, content from Maker Faire, a review of press activity and more. We look forward to seeing everyone next year!"

Pokemon Platinum Announced, Due In The Fall [New Pokemon]
Thursday, May 15th, 2008
Yeah, you read that right. New. Pokemans. Prepare yourself (though don’t get too excited). Although strongly hinted at last month (and subsequently spilled in a few Japanese mags earlier in the week), it’s only now had its wraps officially taken off by Nintendo. Titled Pokemon Platinum, it’s due sometime in the Fall. Those hoping for a new, full Pokemon adventure will be disappointed to hear it’s just an expansion to Diamond/Pearl (much like Pokemon Yellow, back in the day). Those happy with any Pokemon they can get , however, should still be tickled pink. Click through for a couple of new, teeny screens.
Steam’s Latest Hardware Survey Results Are In [Steam]
Thursday, May 15th, 2008
We’ve had some bad Steam news today, so let’s balance it out with some good news, eh? Valve have released the latest set of results from Steam’s hardware survey, giving us perhaps the best snapshot possible of just what the average PC gamer’s got to work with. Some of the results (only 0.55% use a 33k modem) are predictable, while others (only 25.68% are on a 16:9 display) are waaaaaay off what most would have put money on. If, you know. You could pop down to the bookies and throw a tenner on the results of a PC hardware survey.
